Giving Back to Others During the COVID-19 Pandemic – Dr. Thomas Connolly

In mid-march during my walk in Central Park (New York City), I thought my allergies were acting up with the trees and flowers bloom. The next morning I could not have more wrong, the Corona-virus struck. The next two weeks were rough with fever, chills, muscle aches and sleeping 20 hours a day. Each evening, I did two things. The first was to pray to God that I would survive. The second was to leave my quarantine room ajar and a light on so my wife could check on my breathing as I slept. I am fortunate that God heard my prayers and I turned the corner by the 12th day. I am now fully recovered.

It took 3 weeks for the hospital to send a hard copy of my Covid 19 positive test. I immediately reached out to the hospital to volunteer for an antibody study and to donate Convalescent Plasma through the New York City Blood Center which involves 3 donations a week apart. Hopefully, my plasma has enough antibodies to help others!

I strongly encourage anyone who tested positive for Covid 19 to donate their plasma. Here is a link to help find donation centers in your area.

Stay safe and Stay strong.
