About this project

Many in the dental community have been affected by COVID-19 and want to share their stories. As a result, the ADA is launching the JADA+ COVID-19 Monograph—a digital collection of stories, reflections, and accounts from any perspective, in any format, including observations, essays, podcasts, videos, graphics, and photos—that is open to all contributors. Our goal is for this monograph to become a significant archive of the experiences and oral histories of this global pandemic for dentists, their practice colleagues and their patients, as well as for academics, researchers, and policy makers who all each have unique perspectives to share.

The ADA is pleased that the JADA+ monograph on COVID-19 is guest edited by Scott Swank, DDS, MS, FACD, who is the curator at the Dr. Samuel D. Harris National Museum of Dentistry and a clinical assistant professor at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in Baltimore.

Additional Information

The ADA has created a JADA+ monograph focused on COVID-19’s impact on dentistry. The overall goal of this monograph is to capture the insights, stories, and personal reflections of the dental community, at large, as it experienced (and continues to experience) the pandemic and its aftermath.

The monograph will be produced in a digital format, at first, which allows JADA+ to host and archive more than just written material such as videos, podcasts, images and graphics. The archive is intended to be a living document with digital content added throughout the pandemic. Once the pandemic is behind us, a print monograph will be published that captures the essence of the digital material.

All members of the dental community are encouraged to participate in this project. The JADA+ COVID-19  Monograph is interested in receiving items of personal reflection, creative work, or anything that documents your thoughts, emotions, and experiences during this incredible time.
