Dental and Medical Collaboration During COVID-19 – Dr. Michael Suh

I am sharing my article titled “Dental and medical collaboration during COVID-19” published in June of 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic required physicians to prioritize medical treatment in the emergency room in order to conserve resources; giving precedence to true and urgent emergencies. Most physicians encounter dental emergencies in the emergency department and, without proper knowledge, they are unable to properly treat or refer these patients. My goal was to educate University of California, San Francisco medical residents on how to properly triage dental emergencies, with the overarching goal of increasing collaboration between dentistry and medicine. My article was accepted in the special “Advancing through Innovation” issue of the Journal of Dental Education.
